Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg (ninth left) posing with Petrochemical Sdn Bhd Project Director Mohammad Bin Ibrahim and other members of the PetChem Sdn Bhd and Petronas Chemicals Marketing (Labuan) Ltd delegation after the courtesy call in Kuching yesterday.

A DELEGATION from PetChem Sdn Bhd and Petronas Chemicals Marketing (Labuan) Ltd yesterday paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to conclude the sales and purchase agreement on  methanol products.

According to Sarawak PetChem Sdn Bhd Project Director Mohamad Ibrahim, the meeting was held to finalise the agreement and  plan for a proper signing ceremony for the agreement.

“It is a positive discussion as we plan for a proper signing ceremony with the attendance of the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg during the signing ceremony,” said Ibrahim.

He said this when met by reporters after the courtesy call on the Chief Minister at the State Legislative Assembly building here  yesterday.

Asked whether the petroleum sales tax would affect the agreement, Ibrahim said that they were looking at the possibilities and studying the matter.

“So far, we don’t know yet. We are looking into the sales tax but we need to consider all the requirements including the tax requirements imposed on the industry,” he said.
