SEBAUH: Eleven families were made homeless when fire completely razed the Chaong Tubau longhouse here today.
According to a press statement by the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD) Bintulu today, they received a distressed call at 7.30 am which prompted them to dispatch a team to the scene.
Upon arriving at the scene, the team reported that the fire had reduced the 11-door longhouse, which has a structure of an estimated area of 16 feet wide and 40 feet long, to ashes. It resulted in the total loss of the structure and its contents.
The team effectively deployed one assist line nozzle for firefighting and later conducted overhaul operations to fully extinguish the flames.
No injuries or fatalities were reported.
