SIMANGGANG: Disabled Wan Hamli Wan Osman, was hoping to meet the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah.

The 45-year-old was waiting excitedly at the Bandar Sri Aman Mosque for the arrival of the royal couple and their entourage after learning that they would stop in Sri Aman as part of their Kembara Kenali Borneo expedition.

Wan Hamli’s mother, Sharifah Masbah Tengku Sham who accompanied him said her son was thrilled about the visit.

“When I told him the other day, he was really happy. We got ready early this morning. At first we wanted to wait by the side of the road but it was not possible considering Wan’s condition.

“So we waited at the mosque since 9am because he said he wanted to greet Sultan Abdullah,” she said.

Sharifah described the royal expedition to Sarawak as a once in a lifetime opportunity.

“I am over 70 , and this is the first time I have seen such a programme.

“However, since the entourage did not have the time to stop here, we just accepted it.

“It is just that I feel sorry to see Wan Hamli, who was excited to meet Sultan Abdullah,” she said.

She said it was not expected that there would be a change in the programme as many were hoping to catch a glimpse of the royal family.
