PETALING JAYA: About 600 Isuzu D-Max owners around the country simultaneously ushered in National Day by participating in the Merdeka Convoy 66, in unity with fellow D-Max owners.

The programme was organised by Isuzu Malaysia in collaboration with its authorised dealerships with parades held in 29 locations around the country at 9.15am on the morning of Aug 31.

The Merdeka Convoy 66 was the largest ever simultaneous parade of Isuzu D-Max in the country.

According to Chief Operating Officer Kenkichi Sogo who flagged off the Merdeka 66 Convoy at the Isuzu Jinjang outlet in Kuala Lumpur, the event allowed dealers to engage with owners and celebrate the special bond that Malaysians enjoy.

“While our aim was to create a meaningful Merdeka celebration this year among our dealers and D-Max owners, we also wanted to celebrate this sense of unity that is so unique and apparent in Malaysia with a unified activity that transcends borders,” said Sogo.

Meanwhile, Isuzu Malaysia in its statement on Wednesday said the participants of the Merdeka Convoy 66 enjoyed a day out with fellow Isuzu D-Max owners around the country with various programmes organised for them by their respective dealerships.

“Their cars were also decked out with commemorative decals and flags while each participant received an exclusive event t-shirt.

“Part of the fringe activities organised by the dealers included a visit to a durian farm, a short off-roading course, an afternoon at the beach, rainforest resort and a shopping mall.

“Feedback from owners was positive with many voicing their interest in participating further in group activities with D-Max owners to foster closer friendships and to network with owners,” it said.
