KOTA SAMARAHAN: The deadline for the Rural Business Challenge 2.0 (RBC 2.0) competition has been extended to February 29.

Rural and Regional Development Deputy Minister Datuk Rubiah Wang said the decision to extend the deadline from January 31 was due to overwhelming reception from participants.

“We are pleased to announce that we will extend the deadline so that more young entrepreneurs can come and register.

“As of now, we have a total of 5,000 registrations, therefore, participants should not hesitate to register,” she said.

Rubiah said a booth for RBC will be open during the Rural Entrepreneurs Mini Carnival (KUD) until February 4.

“So to all Sarawakians, especially the young entrepreneurs who are not aware of RBC, please come to the booth and they will explain about that competition.

“If your business is qualified to participate, then go ahead and register in the RBC 2.0,” she said.

She said this when met by reporters after visiting the mini carnival in Kota Samarahan on Thursday (Feb 1).

The programme was introduced in 2012 through the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) 2.0 under the 21st Century Rural Youth Entrepreneur Driven Model.

In 2023, RBC was reintroduced with several enhancements known as RBC 2.0.

The programme maintains its original concept, serving as a business development platform through the organisation of business plan competitions among rural youth entrepreneurs.

RBC 2.0 was launched by Rubiah during the Rural Entrepreneur Carnival in Putrajaya on November 24 last year.
