KUCHING: An early morning fire destroyed four semi-permanent double-storey houses and damaged another four in Lorong 16 Kampung Haji Baki here, today.
According to reports from the Fire and Rescue Department, the distress call came in at 5.22 am, which prompted a swift response from the Batu Lintang Fire and Rescue Station team, with support from units at Tabuan Jaya and Padungan stations.
The blaze razed eight houses, with four completely razed and another four sustaining 30 per cent damage. No casualties were reported.
Following the RECEO and PKO method, firefighters deployed two streams extending 900 feet, two dividing breechings, and four nozzles, drawing water from a pump unit on the fire truck.
By 6.38 am, the fire was brought under control. Subsequent overhaul operations were carried out to ensure no remaining sources of ignition.
The operation ended at 9.22 am, and firefighters are now investigating the cause of the blaze and assessing the extent of damages.
