SIMANGGANG: Datuk Francis Harden Hollis stressed the importance of keeping the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) relevant and the need to stick to guidelines.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development said holding meetings at least six times a year is crucial to inform members about upcoming activities and government policies.
“Additionally, each JKKK must update the village profile and account book to prevent issues with fund disbursements,” he said during a ceremony held yesterday (Apr 3) at the Simanggang District Office, where continuation certificates were distributed to village chiefs, village heads, and kapitans.
Thirty-eight individuals from the constituency of Simanggang area had their terms extended and received certificates, witnessed by local officials. A certificate of appreciation was also given to former Pemanca Jegai Jawa for his service as the Iban Community Pemanca in Simanggang District.
Harden also donated plastic chairs and tables to various community locations, including the multipurpose hall of Taman Harmoni, the management committee of the basketball court at RPR Phase 2, the multipurpose hall of Kampung Muhibbah, and the futsal court at RPR Taman Sentosa.
The final session was a visit to Rumah Kanak-kanak Datuk Ajibah Abol, Sri Aman (RKKDAA) as part of the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration. During the visit, monetary gifts and bubur lambuk were distributed to 19 residents of the institution.
“Providing assistance to residents in care centres such as RKKDAA is an annual event during each festive season.
“The purpose of the visit is to uplift the atmosphere as the festive season approaches, ensuring that the residents do not feel left out while their peers outside celebrate the occasion with their families,” Harden said.
