
LAWAS: The establishment of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will determine Sarawak’s future, especially in terms of its economy, development and the return of its rights as per Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).
Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong said he was confident GPS was in a position to achieve all these under the able leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He said Johari and GPS would bring development not only to urban areas but also to its rural counterparts.
“He sets good directions in ensuring Sarawak is comparable to other developed states in Malaysia.
“Sarawak, despite having many resources, is still lagging behind in many aspects including basic facilities such as roads,” he said during the GPS Flag Rally at Hotel Seri Malaysia’s compound, here yesterday.
“GPS is a strong party and they are doing their part to fight for Sarawak’s rights, so our role as citizens is to give our fullest support to them,” he told the Lawas folk.
He said GPS that comprises the four component parties would defend Sarawak’s rights so that future generations are able to the enjoy the benefits of the State’s produce.
“It is just like businessmen who do not want any loss when doing business, and that’s how it should be for the leaders who are demanding for Sarawak rights,” he stressed.
He said the state cannot afford to lose anymore and must be ready to fight to get back its rights.
On another note, Sum expressed that he was proud that Lawas was selected as the first point for GPS to introduce its newly launched logo to the people.
