BAU: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bau will receive RM200,000 under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) to upgrade its sports facilities.

Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the funds would cover upgrades to the school’s tennis court, the installation of a fence around the volleyball court and improvements to the existing parking area, with work slated to begin this year.

“I assure you that continuous efforts will be taken to ensure that school facilities in his constituency are always in good and conducive condition for students and educators,” said Henry during the 20th SMK Bau Form Six Graduation Ceremony on Friday.

The Tasik Biru assemblyman also allocated an additional RM30,000 for facility upgrades, which included the maintenance of air conditioning units at the school.

Meanwhile, the graduation ceremony celebrated the achievements of 194 students from the 2022/2023 session who completed their Form Six studies in both Pure Science and Social Science streams.

Special recognition was given to 15 outstanding students from the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) 2022 and five top performers of the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) 2022.

Also present were Bau District Education Officer Edward Ngelai and SMK Bau principal Dewis Lidek.
