KUCHING: The Kuching District Al-Quran Recitation Competition 2024 was won by Nordin Putit and Nur Syafiqah as the champions in the Qari and Qariah categories.
The second place winner was Mohammad Nurhanizar Morshidi, while Awang Ibrahim Awang Sabudin took the third place in the Qari category.
In the Qariah category, Nina Nurfayati Muhammad secured the second place and Johani Bakri was at third place.
The event was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications of Sarawak, Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
According to the organiser, a total of 17 contestants participated in this year’s event, comprising 11 Qari and six Qariah, all from Kuching area.
Meanwhile, in the results for the religious song festival, the Ad-Dhiya’ Group was adjudged the champion, while the first runner-up was won by the Zayyan Group, and the second runner-up went to the Ayesha Group.
Among those present at the event were Kuching District officer Sofhi Jebal, Kuching Division Islamic Religious officer Ustaz Helmi Nahrawi, Temenggong Abdullah Jamel, and Pemanca Rosli Sahari.
