MIRI: The Lions Club of Batu Niah left a lasting impression at the annual Lions Clubs International 308A2 awards ceremony, held alongside the 62nd Multiple District 308 Lions Convention Fellowship and the District Governor 2023-2024 Lions Club International 308A2 Region 4 Fellowship.
These events, which took place in Sabah (May) and Miri (June) respectively, honored the outstanding service and dedication of Lions clubs in the region throughout the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
Batu Niah Lions Club received an impressive nine awards, highlighting their unwavering commitment to community service and exemplary leadership.
Notably, they were bestowed with the esteemed Gold Club Award, recognizing their exceptional overall performance.
Andy Jong Wan Joon, the President of the Association, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the committee members for their unwavering support and dedication.
He stated, “This recognition is a testament to our team’s spirit, love, and passion for serving the community. We will continue to strive for excellence and make meaningful contributions to society.”
The Lions Club of Batu Niah also celebrated the remarkable contributions of their key leaders. Andy Jong Wan Joon received the Gold Club President Award, while Yong Kiam Hong, the Secretary-General, was honoured with the Gold Club Secretary Award. Caren Huong Sia Wei, the Treasurer, and Yong Kiam Jee, the First Vice President, were awarded the Gold Club Treasurer Award and Gold Club 1st Vice President Award respectively.
In recognition of her outstanding leadership, Immediate Past President Alice Yong was acknowledged with both the Leadership Award and the District Fellow Award.
Furthermore, Second Vice President Wilson Ho Wei Chee and committee member Low Mei Ping were each bestowed with the Outstanding Lions Award.
District Governor Kapitan Ronny Hiew Ah Choi of Lions Clubs International District 308-A2 presented the awards and praised the Lions Club of Batu Niah for their exemplary service and dedication.
