BINTULU: A motorcyclist died on the spot following a collision with a car at Mile 2, Jalan Sultan Iskandar on Monday night (July 29).
The fatal accident, involving a motorcycle and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), occurred at the traffic light junction around 7pm.
Bintulu police chief Supt Nixon Joshua Ali said that the victim, identified as Mahmud Nyalong, 37, died at the scene.
“Preliminary investigations found that the MPV, driven by a woman, was heading to Seaview Court Condominium from Bandar Jaya Bintulu.
“The collision happened when the MPV was turning right at the traffic light and the motorcycle, ridden by the victim, was moving straight and crashed into the right side of the vehicle.
“As a result, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and his body was taken to the hospital for post-mortem,” he said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Nixon urged the public not to speculate or spread false information regarding the incident.
