KOTA SAMARAHAN: Long-term collaboration in three key areas took centre stage at a meeting between the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) and the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China here recently.
Led by MPKS chairman Datuk Peter Minos, the meeting with Consul-General Xing Weiping, also looked forward to paving the way for productive discussions on establishing stronger ties under the Friendship Cities framework.
The meeting explored economic exchanges, with plans to foster partnerships between businesses in Kota Samarahan and Chinese cities, involving local Chambers of Commerce to expand trade and investment.
The MPKS delegation also explored opportunities for education and youth exchanges, emphasising academic partnerships and cultural programmes to strengthen mutual understanding and enrich learning experiences.
Thirdly, infrastructure development featured prominently in the discussions, with a focus on sharing expertise in sustainable urban planning, landscape management, and advanced waste management systems.
These initiatives align with MPKS’ vision of achieving smart and sustainable growth for Kota Samarahan.
The delegation presented Kota Samarahan’s dynamic growth and potential for collaborative ventures, focusing on economic, educational, and infrastructural advancements.
During the meeting, Minos highlighted Kota Samarahan’s transformation into a bustling, forward-thinking municipality.
He underscored MPKS’ dedication to adopting global best practices, drawing inspiration from China’s innovative urban planning, green initiatives, and smart city solutions.
