SIBU: Julau MP Datuk Larry Sng has allocated RM140,000 to Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Julau to establish a STEM Room.
He expressed his full support for SMK Julau’s initiative to establish a Digital Hub and a STEM Room.
“In this era of globalisation, education is undoubtedly crucial for the future of our children.”
“I see that this school prioritises developing infrastructure that is conducive to learning. This, in turn, helps create a thriving environment for human capital development. With a structured and focused learning plan, students and teachers alike can excel and remain motivated,” he said.
SMK Julau has achieved significant progress in academic achievement, recording a School Average Grade (GPS) of 4.88 and a 96.88 per cent success rate in the 2023 Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM) examinations.
Sng hoped that SMK Julau would achieve even better results in SPM 2024, targeting a GPS of 4.08 and a certificate success rate of 97.92 per cent.
“I am proud of the Principal of SMK Julau and the teachers who are dedicated to educating students. I also aspire for 72 out of 96 students to excel in their subjects, achieving at least a 75 per cent success rate,” he added.
Sng also commended the principal’s announcement of a Form 6 class to be introduced in conjunction with the school’s 60th anniversary, calling it a historic milestone for SMK Julau.
He added that SMK Julau had proven to the community that despite being a rural school, its students could compete with their urban counterparts.
“As the saying goes, they can stand tall and proud alongside students from urban schools in terms of intellect,” he said.
