Five PPS remain active as 2 PPS closed

KUCHING: Fine weather and improving flood situation in Sarawak, has allowed two more temporary relief centres (PPS) to close today (Feb 13), making only five centres remain active.

The PPS namely Mukah Youth Camp and Mukah Sports Community Complex Hall closed at 11 am.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Secretariat said that the number of evacuees at PPS also dropped from 632 evacuees on Wednesday to 416 evacuees today (Feb 13).

Only two PPS remain open to accommodate 205 flood victims from 64 families at Beluru Community Hall and SMK Bakong.

Meanwhile, three other PPS are still active as these are accomodating 211 landslide victims in Miri and Sibu.

In Miri, 170 evacuees are seeking temporary shelter at Miri Red Crescent and Dewan Kampung Sukan.

In Sibu, 41 evacuees are sheltering at the Kampung Bahagia Jaya Teku Community Hall.
