SIBU: The Knights of Sacred Heart School Old Students’ Association (SHOSA) will hold a reunion dinner on April 5 at Kingwood Hotel here.
SHOSA secretary Ignatius Lau said the reunion dinner will be a golden opportunity for former students to reconnect and strengthen the camaraderie that defined their school years.
More than half the expected 400 participants have confirmed their attendance.
“As this is not a quinquennial celebration year for our alma mater, the event will be more casual with the aim of enabling former students to get together and catch up,” said organising chairman Wong Ing Ang.
SHOSA president Penghulu Yong King Sung announced during last year’s reunion, the next major SHOSA celebration will be held in 2027, marking the school’s 125th anniversary.
Wong, from the Class of 1990, expressed gratitude to SHOSA for allowing his batch to take centre stage at this year’s reunion.
“When I informed SHOSA leadership that 2025 was my batch’s 35th anniversary after completing Form 5, they immediately offered us the leading role in the forthcoming celebrations,” he said.
The evening’s programme will commence with the SHOSA Annual General Meeting at 6.30pm, followed by the dinner celebration at 7pm.
The event will begin with a march by members of the School Board of Management, SHOSA, and SHS Parents Teachers Association office bearers. In addition to song and dance performances, there will be ample time for alumni to reconnect and reminisce.
“The Class of 1990 will also be making a financial donation to our alma mater as a token of gratitude. We went into this school as boys, and by the time we left in 1990, we were on our way to becoming men,” Wong added.
Lau meanwhile encouraged more alumni to sign up as the event draws closer.
“While there are no deadlines for signing up, please do so at the earliest possible date to ensure you have a seat,” he said.
“This gathering is more than just a social event; it is a testament to the unbreakable spirit of the Sacred Heart brotherhood, a celebration of the school’s rich legacy, and an acknowledgment of the successes of its former students who have carried its name with pride,” he added.
