KUALA LUMPUR: Saudi Arabia has barred the live broadcast of prayers, including Tarawih, on all media platforms during Ramadan. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs announced the directive on X, outlining regulations for mosques ahead of the holy month in March.
It also instructed mosques to regulate camera use, prohibiting the filming of imams and worshippers during prayers. Imams must monitor worshippers, ensure compliance with mosque rules, and verify non-Saudis through approved sponsors. Collecting donations for iftar (breaking fast) is also banned, with meals only allowed in designated mosque courtyards under the supervision of imams and muezzins.
Mosque officials must intensify religious awareness efforts, while inspectors will conduct field visits to enforce compliance. Legal action will be taken against violators, the ministry warned. – BERNAMA
