YOKOHAMA: The Sarawak delegation, led by Deputy State Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, continued their working visit by exploring opportunities at the Chiyoda Koyasu Research Park today (Feb 26).
The visit aims to deepen their understanding of Chiyoda’s innovative technologies in carbon recycling and hydrogen production.
Chiyoda Corporation, a leading engineering company, briefed the delegation on its diverse activities, including CO2 capture, carbonate production from concrete waste, ethylene and paraxylene production from CO2 and H2, and syngas manufacturing using CO2 as a feedstock.
Discussions also focus on hydrogen production, particularly the joint development of large-scale electrolysis systems with Toyota.
This visit aligns with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s vision for a green and net-zero future, building on discussions held during the Premier’s trip to Tokyo in December last year.
This is also part of a broader effort to establish potential partnerships and explore the feasibility of setting up a demonstration plant facility in Sarawak.
Furthermore, this collaboration could significantly enhance Sarawak’s capabilities in sustainable energy solutions and carbon recycling technologies, moving closer to achieving the Premier’s vision for sustainable future.
The delegation included permanent secretary for Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Abg Ahmad Abg Morni; Forest Department Sarawak director Datuk Hamden Mohammad, Sarawak Biodiversity Centre chief executive officer Datuk Dr Charlie Yeo as well as Sarawak Petchem managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Mohammad Ibrahim.
