KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia led ASEAN stock exchanges in initial public offerings (IPOs) last year, with 55 listings — a 72 per cent surge from 2023 — raising RM7.42 billion, up 107 per cent.

Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said the market’s average daily value (ADV) jumped over 50 per cent to RM3.15 billion in 2024, while market capitalisation grew nearly 16 per cent to RM2.08 trillion.

Market velocity also climbed to 39.4 per cent from 29.3 per cent in 2023.

He attributed the IPO boom to investor confidence in Malaysia’s economic prospects, a strong regulatory framework, political stability, and policies like the MADANI economic framework.

Buoyed by this momentum, Bursa Malaysia targets 60 IPOs this year. –BERNAMA
