KUCHING: The Sarawak Energy Isthmus Run returns for its milestone 10 edition on August 10, marking a new chapter with the introduction of a 42 km Full Marathon category.
This addition expands the event’s lineup, which also includes the 21 km Half Marathon, 10 km and 5 km Fun Run categories.
According to a press release by Sarawak Energy on March 7, the introduction of the Full Marathon comes as the Sarawak Energy Isthmus Run becomes an official member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), joining a global network of recognised running events.
“This membership reflects ongoing efforts to enhance race experience in line with international standards “This year’s event features the largest prize pool to date, with RM185,000 in cash rewards for top finishers across the Full Marathon, Half Marathon and Competitive Run categories.
“The men’s and women’s open category winners of the 42 km Full Marathon are set to take home RM10,000 each,” it said.
Early Bird registration for the Sarawak Energy Isthmus Run 2025 opened on February 14, with more than 2,000 participants signing up in the first two weeks.
The 2024 edition saw a record 3,615 participants, the highest the event’s introduction in 2013, including 117 from other Malaysian states and 33 international runners from Brunel.

For those who have yet to register, the Early Bird special rates are available until March 15 which are RM90 for the 42 km Full Marathon, RM70 for the 21 km Half Marathon, RM60 for the 10 km Competitive Run and RM40 for the 58 m Fun Run.
