BALINGIAN: Kidney patients in Selangau will soon have access to dialysis treatment closer to home, as the new dialysis centre at Selangau Health Clinic is set to begin operations in June.
Selangau Member of Parliament Edwin Banta said the facility would be a major relief for patients who currently have to travel to Sibu or Mukah for treatment.
“This initiative will not only ease their financial burden by reducing travel costs but also provide more convenient and comfortable access to treatment,” he said.
He said this during a donation event for fire victims at Rumah Nyawai Radin in Sungai Duan, Jalan Bukut-Ladang Empat, here today.
Edwin further expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Health (MoH), particularly Deputy Health Minister, Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni, for prioritising the matter after he raised it during his visit to Selangau Health Clinic in January last year.
At the event, he also presented a cheque worth RM16,000 as initial aid to the fire-affected families.
Later, Edwin also visited Rumah Petrous Ambun in Lubok Bukut to meet with community leaders and discuss pressing issues and the needs of residents from four longhouses in the area.
