KUCHING: Sarawakians studying abroad are encouraged to apply for the Insentif Graduan Pulang Sarawak (I-GPS), managed by Sarawak Volunteers (SV).
The chief political secretary to the Premier, Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, stated that the incentive is still ongoing and has been set at RM300 per application.
“This incentive is not only implemented during festive seasons but is available throughout the year, allowing students to choose their return dates up to twice a year.
“Each application provides RM300, regardless of whether it is a one-way or round trip. The second application for another date will receive the same amount, meaning they can receive a total of RM600,” he explained.
He said this when met by reporters during a visit to the Bazar Ramadan Emart Matang yesterday.
Fazzrudin added that students who wish to apply can visit the Yayasan Sarawak website and fill in the required documents.
“I am sure many of our graduates have already registered with Yayasan Sarawak, and I also encourage them to register with Sarawak ID and Sarawak Pay.
“This is because the assistance programmes announced by the Premier, such as the Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS), will be distributed through these platforms,” he said.
Last year, Fazzrudin revealed that the Sarawak government allocated approximately RM7 million to meet the demand for this initiative.
Meanwhile, the Bazar Ramadan Emart Matang features 63 stalls offering various food and beverage options.
The bazaar is expected to operate until March 29.
