SELANGAU: The much-anticipated haemodialysis centre at Selangau Health Clinic is set to begin operations in June this year, bringing much-needed relief to kidney patients in the area.

Tamin assemblyman, Christopher Gira Sambang, expressed his excitement and gratitude to the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) for its continued commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure.

“I am delighted by MOH’s concern in addressing the lack of medical equipment in rural clinics.

“This effort must continue to be prioritised and strengthened for the benefit of the people, including the healthcare facilities in Selangau,” he said.

“The haemodialysis centre at Selangau Health Clinic is finally becoming a reality after I raised this issue several times before,” he added.

According to a recent statement by Selangau Member of Parliament, Edwin Banta, the facility’s operations will commence in June, ensuring that residents no longer have to travel far for treatment.

Earlier, Edwin also expressed his appreciation to MOH, particularly Deputy Health Minister, Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni, for his concern regarding the issue, which was raised during his visit to the Selangau Health Clinic in early January last year.

“Once fully operational, the haemodialysis centre will greatly ease access to treatment for kidney patients in the surrounding areas,” Gira explained.

“Undoubtedly, patients requiring haemodialysis treatment will now breathe a sigh of relief, as this facility will significantly ease their access to treatment in the Tamin area while also reducing the financial burden they previously faced.”
