KOTA SAMARAHAN: A total of 131 ‘asnaf’ (underprivileged individuals) in the Stakan constituency received aid through a Ramadan programme.
As part of the programme, Stakan assemblyman Datuk Hamzah Brahim also contributed RM5,000 to support the operations of mosques and suraus, especially in preparation for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Hamzah said he hoped the contributions would ease the burden of those in need and strengthen the role of mosques and suraus in the community.
“Ramadan is a time for togetherness and kindness. I hope this assistance can help bring people closer,” he said.
He said this during the programme at Masjid Darul Falah, Kampung Binyuk Lama, on Sunday night (Mar 23).
During the event, cash assistance was distributed to 50 ‘asnaf’ from Kampung Binyuk Lama, 50 from Kampung Binyuk Lot, and 31 from Kampung Pendam.
Meanwhile, the management committee of Darul Falah Mosque received RM2,000, while Surau Darul Furqan and Surau Kampung Pendam received RM1,500 each.
