MANILA: The World Bank approved a US$67.34 million package to enhance the Philippines’ civil service.
The funding will support the Civil Service Modernisation Project, which includes the establishment of a Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS) and payroll system for better workforce planning, career development, and training.
The new system will enable budgeting based on actual staff numbers, improving government cash management. “Strong public institutions are key to inclusive growth,” said Zafer Mustafaoglu, World Bank country director for the Philippines, Malaysia, and Brunei.
“Countries with high-quality, merit-based civil services raise more revenues, provide better services, and foster inclusive growth.” –BERNAMA
