KUCHING: Tunku Putra-HELP School was once again honoured by the presence of internationally acclaimed soprano and vocal coach, Katrina Saga, who returned for the second consecutive year to share her expertise with students.

Katrina Saga, a distinguished soprano and vocal specialist renowned for her exceptional vocal technique, is an alumna of the Philippine Madrigal Singers.

She has performed on world tours across Asia, Africa, Europe and the United States.

During her visit, Saga conducted vocal and music classes for both kindergarten and primary students, while also supporting the school’s choir and Music Festival Choir Team.

“At Tunku Putra-HELP, we are committed to nurturing creativity and artistic expression as key components of a holistic education.

“Supporting the arts allows our students to develop confidence, discipline and a profound appreciation for music,” said Shirley Harrison, principal of Tunku Putra-HELP School.

“Katrina Saga’s involvement is a wonderful extension of our vision to provide students with world-class musical exposure and opportunities.”

In preparation for the 2025 HELP Group of Schools Music Festival, Saga is mentoring students from Tunku Putra-HELP School (Kuching), Crescendo-HELP International School (Johor Bahru) and HELP International School (Kuala Lumpur).

This marks her second collaboration with the students following the 2024 Music Festival.

Under her guidance, students enhanced their vocal techniques, gained invaluable experience in professional music training, and developed greater confidence and stage presence.

Students who benefited from Saga’s mentorship have shared how her guidance significantly improved their vocal technique, enhanced vocal control, expanded their range, and elevated their overall performance.

These included 12-year-old Ryan Shareef from Tunku Putra-HELP, who represented Team Malaysia at the 2024 World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in California alongside his twin sister, Aleysha.

A highlight of Saga’s visit was her involvement with The HELP Group of Schools Music Festival Choir Team.

With over 230 students from three schools, the team performed in Kuala Lumpur in February 2025, fostering a dynamic and collaborative musical environment.
