PADAWAN: A total of 16 Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) for the year 2026 have been approved, involving 13 villages under the administration of the Padawan Small District for the Mambong constituency, with an allocation of RM3.6 million.

Transport (Land and Aviation) Deputy Minister, Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, said this when chairing the RTP Project Proposal Coordination Meeting for 2026 at the Padawan Small District Office held recently.

The meeting, which was also attended by representatives from implementing agencies, such as the Public Works Department (PWD), Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) and the Kuching Division Resident’s Office, discussed the coordination and details of the projects to be implemented.

Dr Jerip, who is Mambong assemblyman, emphasised the importance of early coordination and accurate information in preparing project proposals.

He reminded that all scopes of work and cost estimates should be thoroughly prepared and submitted by June 2025 at the latest, to ensure smooth project implementation in 2026.

In addition, he stressed that the appointed contractors must fulfil their responsibilities in ensuring the success of all these projects.

He pointed out that delays in project implementation could have a negative impact on rural communities, who are in dire need of better basic facilities.

He also called for cooperation from community leaders to ensure that there are no disruptions in the execution of the projects, stressing that disruptions not only cause delays but also increase the costs of implementation.
