KUCHING: In a continued show of support for rural healthcare, the CCEP Foundation has donated RM20,000 worth of medical equipment to Lundu Hospital, marking its second contribution in recent months.
The latest donation includes two vital sign monitors and five semi-automatic hospital beds, bringing the foundation’s total contribution to the hospital to RM32,500 across two rounds of support.
The handover was conducted in the presence of witnesses, with CCEP Foundation CEO Yvonne Yee formally presenting the equipment to Lundu Hospital director, Dr Chin Shi Hao.
This initiative stemmed from Yee’s first visit to the hospital last year, where she discovered that many medical devices were either outdated or no longer functioning.
“That visit made a deep impression on me. It motivated us to launch a fundraising campaign to help improve the hospital’s facilities,” she said.
The donation on Wednesday follows two vital sign monitors’ earlier contribution in March.
“This is part of the CCEP Foundation’s ongoing effort to strengthen medical resources in the community.
“What touched me the most was learning during my visit yesterday that more charitable organisations have started contributing.
“It shows that our appeal for Lundu Hospital has finally caught public attention,” Yee added.
She noted that while fundraising efforts were initially difficult, the growing wave of support has demonstrated how kindness can inspire others.
“Charity transcends race, religion, and geography. Wherever help is needed, we will be there.
“The CCEP Foundation is committed to ensuring every donation is used where it’s truly needed,” Yee assured.
