MIRI: Borneo Hornbill defended their title at the SOP Inter-Region Badminton Competition 2025, closing the weekend tournament (April 12–13) with a commanding performance marked by teamwork and consistency.
Hosted at Tung Sports Centre in Miri, the annual event brought together 21 teams from all SOP regions, including international colleagues, in a celebration of athleticism, camaraderie, and corporate unity.
The two-day competition featured five categories — Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Veteran Men’s Doubles, and a second Men’s Doubles pairing — ensuring a competitive yet inclusive format for all participants.
SOP Chief Operating Officer, Eric Kiu Kwong Seng, officiated the opening ceremony with an inspiring speech, highlighting sport’s role in fostering unity, discipline, and healthy living across the SOP community.
The tournament delivered high-energy matches and thrilling moments, with the top four teams emerging as follows:
Champions: Borneo Hornbill (Defending champions from 2024)
1st Runner-up: Bintulu Downstream
2nd Runner-up: HQ Smashers
4th Place: HQ Elites
Borneo Hornbill drew praise for their tactical sharpness and strong team spirit, reaffirming their dominance in the annual showdown.
The event concluded on a high, with spirited support from colleagues and spectators energising the court throughout the weekend.
