KUCHING: Maybank has expanded cross-border QR payment capabilities for its MAE App users, enabling instant KHQR transactions in Cambodia under the Malaysia-Cambodia linkage led by Bank Negara Malaysia and the National Bank of Cambodia.
As strategic banking partner, sponsor and settlement bank, Maybank now supports seamless payments across Cambodia and five key markets—Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and China.
“Our 9 million MAE users can enjoy low-cost, real-time QR payments abroad,” said Group CEO Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli yesterday, citing 83 per cent growth in QR transaction value last year.
Users can simply scan a local QR code via MAE’s Scan & Pay to view the charge in both currencies before confirming payment.
The bank also supported Phase 1 of the initiative, which enabled Cambodian travellers to use the Bakong App in Malaysia.
With Malaysia chairing ASEAN this year, Khairussaleh said Maybank remains committed to regional integration and financial inclusion.
