MIRI: Baram FC are bridging the gap between grassroots and professional football by fielding a team of local youths, supported by experienced players.
In a recent statement, the club said they take pride in offering a platform for young players from remote and rural areas to gain real exposure to competitive football.
“Not everyone gets the chance to play at a higher level or leave their hometowns. That’s why we bring professional elements to the grassroots — full kits, proper equipment, quality facilities, and full media coverage. This is how we celebrate the spirit of football.
“Match results can go either way, but the experience they gain is what truly matters. Football isn’t just about winning or losing — it’s about learning, growing, and thinking strategically. At Baram FC, we believe the experience itself is the real victory,” the club stated.
While most of Baram FC’s players come from the local community, a few seasoned players have been brought in to provide balance and mentorship.
The club said this blend helps preserve their grassroots identity while introducing players to a more structured, professional football environment.
“We believe this effort will have a lasting impact on the community and inspire young people to pursue greater opportunities in sports. Baram FC value talent and potential above all else, regardless of a player’s background.
“We’re bringing the professional level to the grassroots — so that even those who may never play at the top level can still feel what it’s like to be part of it,” the statement added.
