TANJUNG MANIS: Residents of Kampung Penipah have been urged to make full use of the completed infrastructure projects, including the Batang Lassa and Batang Rajang bridges, which are seen as having strong potential to stimulate the local economy.
Tanjung Manis MP Yusuf Abd Wahab said these facilities not only ease daily travel for villagers but also open up greater opportunities for economic activities, especially in marketing fresh seafood and downstream products such as smoked ‘lumek’ and ‘sesar unjur’ (fermented shrimp paste).
“These local products are increasingly gaining traction in the market, and good infrastructure will continue to boost access and add value to the community’s economy.
“With improved roads and telecommunications networks, the challenge of marketing products from Pulau Bruit is no longer a major hurdle.
“In fact, the arrival of visitors also has the potential to raise household incomes through the sale of local goods,” he said during a Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri gathering at SK Kampung Penipah on Monday (April 21).
He also informed that construction work on the Batang Paloh Bridge is actively underway and expected to be fully completed by early 2026, further enhancing the infrastructure network that will benefit residents.
Yusuf assured that elected representatives will remain committed to championing the development of basic infrastructure for the wellbeing of the local community.
