SIBU: A man who was reported missing while hiking in Kemuyang here yesterday afternoon (April 26) was found in less than an hour, thanks to a location he share via WhatsApp.
According to Sibu Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 4 Chief, Andy Alie, they received a report at 4:15 pm before deploying a team of firefighters from the Sibu Jaya station.
“Upon arriving at the scene, we received information that a team of four civilians had been searching for the victim using the location shared by the 46-year-old victim through his WhatsApp,” he said in a statement today.
Andy said that the search radius for the victim was approximately two kilometres from the main road, and was found safe just within an hour after reported missing.
The operation was concluded at 5:28 pm.
