KUCHING: State Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) director Razim Mohd Noor (pic) is confident in the abilities of Zulhairy Zaidel, who is now the State Integrity and Ombudsman Unit chief integrity officer.
Former state MACC deputy director of prevention Zulhairy was seconded to the unit on Feb 11. “Zulhairy will be leading accredited integrity officers stationed in various ministries, state statutory bodies and agencies.
“With his presence there, he will coordinate prevention activities between MACC and the unit,” said Razim in a press conference after witnessing the handover of duty from Zulhairy to his successor Chang Ching at the state MACC office here yesterday.
Razim added that with Zulhairy’s vast experience of over 20 years in integrity-related field, he would “pave the way for closer cooperation between MACC and the unit to carry out integrity-related activities effectively.”
He pointed out the duties of an integrity officer included complaint management, investigation, verification and approval, code of conduct and compliance with integrity and management, among others.
Razim said MACC strongly supported the state government’s proposal in an effort to prevent corruption and with the establishment of the unit, this would further strengthen cooperation.
Meanwhile, Zulhairy said the state would have the most number of accredited integrity officers.
“Forty-four officers are currently attending a course. They will later join the existing 10 certified officers, bringing the total to 54.”
