SEBUYAU: A strong sense of community spirit and unity was on full display as more than 30 residents here joined hands to carry out the ‘ibadah korban’ (sacrificial ritual) in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha at the Al-Muflihin Mosque today.

Organised by mosque’s management committee, the event saw the slaughter of 12 sacrificial cows, contributed by Minister for Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, who is also the Sebuyau assemblyman.

The communal undertaking not only strengthened ties among residents but also benefited 11 villages across the Sebuyau constituency, including Kampung Lereng Bukit, Kampung Masjid, Kampung Jalan Sawmil, Kampung Baru and Kampung Hulu.

Julaihi, who was present, witnessed the slaughter and also took part in the skinning and distribution of the sacrificial meat with the local community.

On a brief note, he said the Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration is not solely about the act of sacrifice, but also a meaningful occasion for strengthening bonds within the community.

Meanwhile, in total, Julaihi contributed 26 cows for the residents to ensure that all communities within the constituency shared in the blessings of this year’s Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration.

Earlier, Julaihi joined more than 800 congregants to perform the Aidiladha prayers at the mosque.

The prayer, which began at 8:00 am, was led by Sarawak Islamic Religious Department Samarahan Division Assistant Islamic Affairs Officer, Ustaz Anwar Musadad Muhammad Tajuddin, who also delivered the sermon titled ‘Meraih Keimanan, Meningkatkan Pengorbanan’.
