KUCHING: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (RTD) issued a total of 1,570 non-compliance notices during a week-long road safety operation conducted in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha.
Held from Jun 4 to 10, the statewide operation saw 8,915 vehicles inspected and 1,570 non-compliance notices issued for various offences.
In addition, the department confiscated two vehicles for various traffic-related offenses.
Among the most common offences detected were expired driving licences and road taxes that had not been renewed by vehicle owners.


Following this, Sarawak RTD reminded motorists to ensure their driving documents are valid and up to date, and immediately renew their driving licences and road tax if they have expired.
Vehicle owners were also advised to regularly check the condition of their vehicles and ensure they meet safety and technical requirements before hitting the road.
The department stated that inspection of technical aspect and compliance with vehicle safety standards is essential for every journey.
Such operation will continue to promote awareness and foster a more disciplined and responsible road safety culture in Sarawak.
