MUKAH: Nine foreign nationals were detained on suspicion of committing various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
The arrests were made during an immigration raid carried out by the Sarawak Immigration Department’s Special Task Force.
Codenamed Ops Gegar, the operation was conducted on Jun 20 in various locations across the division here.
The department said a total of 33 individuals, comprising both locals and foreigners were screened during the operation, with nine foreigners arrested.
All detainees have been taken to the immigration detention depot for further action.
Earlier, the operation involved 12 enforcement officers and was part of the department’s ongoing efforts to combat immigration offences.
Meanwhile, employers, premises owners and members of the public are reminded not to harbour or protect undocumented foreign nationals.
