KUCHING: The Women’s Section of the Sarawak Government Officers’ Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) held a Surah Yaasin and Tahlil recitation ceremony in honour of its late adviser, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, at Wisma SABATI here today.
The solemn gathering, organised under the MAKSAK Cares initiative, was attended by Chairperson of MAKSAK Women Sarawak, Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang; MAKSAK Women Adviser, Datuk Amar Datin Patinggi Jamilah Anu; members of the MAKSAK Women Exco; Sarawak Badan Amal Tenaga Isteri-Isteri (SABATI); and close family members of the late Puan Sri.
The recitation of Surah Yaasin was led by Ustazah Anisah Amit from the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), followed by Tahlil prayers and Doa Arwah.
Puan Sri Juma’ani, who was the wife of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg , passed away on June 23 at Normah Medical Centre and was laid to rest at the Semariang Islamic Cemetery.
She is fondly remembered as a compassionate and dedicated leader who played a key role in championing welfare initiatives and community development, especially through her active involvement in MAKSAK and SABATI.
Launched in 2020, the MAKSAK Cares programme stands as part of her enduring legacy, supporting civil servants, B40 students, and urban fringe communities, while serving as a catalyst for strengthening MAKSAK Women Sarawak’s social outreach efforts.
