KUCHING: The race to the Cahya Mata Football Cup title heats up as group leaders secured their semi-final berths following a day of action-packed matches on Saturday.
The Cahya Mata Football Cup Finals 2025, which brings together 12 top teams from the earlier Community Cup series, kicked off with intense group-stage clashes held at Fields C and D in Petra Jaya.
The teams were divided into four groups of three, with only the top team from each group advancing to the semi-finals.
In Group C, Hipmau FC delivered a commanding performance, thrashing Taee Union 5-0, after settling for a goalless draw against Santubong FC to top the group.
They will face Mambong FC, who emerged as Group D leaders after a scoreless draw with Battosai D and a hard-fought 2-1 victory over IPD Padawan.
Taman Ria dominated Group A, drawing 1-1 with Reborn New and securing a convincing 6-2 win over Kpg Bratan.
They will take on Kpg Rampangi 1, the Group B leaders who cruised past Seratau Fifaheng 6-0 and edged out KRM FC 2-1.
The semi-finals are set for tomorrow (Sunday, June 29) at Sarawak Stadium, with Taman Ria facing Kpg Rampangi 1 at 10:00 am, followed by Hipmau FC’s clash with Mambong FC at 11:00 am.
