GUANGZHOU: Sarawak is exploring strategic collaborations in water, electricity, telecommunication, and the space industry through a technical working visit to China, led by Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi.
The Utility and Telecommunication Ministry (MUT) in a press release said the visit, which spans from July 14 to 18, covers Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hainan.
It aims to strengthen cooperation, gain insights into international best practices, and explore the adoption of advanced technologies in key utility sectors.
As part of the working visit, the Sarawak delegation has conducted site visits to several major infrastructure and technology facilities in Guangzhou, including the Nansha Nanyue Water: Huangge Water Treatment Plant Phase II – Yuehai Kerong Smart Water and the Lijiao Sewerage Water Treatment Plant.
“This technical working visit reflects our Ministry’s commitment to exploring international best practices and advanced technologies in water supply, electricity, telecommunication, and the space industry,” Julaihi said during a collaboration meeting with Guangzhou government leaders and department heads.
“We look forward to potential partnerships with relevant agencies or companies in Guangzhou, particularly in areas such as capacity building, joint pilot projects, and technology adoption,” he added.
The itinerary also includes visits to the Shenzhen Pumped Storage Power Station, Wenchang International Aerospace City, and the China National Space Administration (CNSA), as well as a series of technical meetings with key industry and government stakeholders.
The ministry said these engagements reflect Sarawak’s ambition to deliver world-class utility services and explore new frontiers, including the space industry, in line with Sarawak’s development goals.
