KUALA LUMPUR: A casual gathering at the residence of the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, here turned into an engaging intellectual discourse on Sarawak’s history, particularly from the perspectives of orientalists and biographers of the Brooke era.
The informal breakfast session today hosted by Wan Junaidi brought together several academics and history enthusiasts based in Kuala Lumpur.
Among those present were Professor Datuk Dr Awang Azman Awang Pawi from Universiti Malaya and Dr Suffian Mansor from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.
The scholarly discourse took place in a warm and appreciative atmosphere, highlighting the value of the state’s historical heritage.
During the meeting, Wan Junaidi received a book titled ‘Parti Negara Sarawak – Dalam Sejarah Politik Sarawak’, authored by Suffian, as a token of appreciation for His Excellency’s interest in and commitment to Sarawak’s history and the development of its political thought.
This effort to engage scholars and academic figures is part of Wan Junaidi’s commitment to preserving social ties and strengthening intellectual networks in an era of rapid and challenging modern life.
