KUCHING: Two of Sarawak’s senior police officers are set to climb the ranks and take on new leadership roles in West Malaysia as part of a nationwide police reshuffle next month.
Sarawak Special Branch (SB) chief SAC Mohd Taufik Toh Abdullah has been appointed as the new Chief Assistant Director of SB E6 at Bukit Aman — the core division handling national intelligence under the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).
At the same time, Sarawak General Operations Force (GOF) Brigade Commander SAC Dr Che Ghazali Che Awang will take over as the new Commandant of the Kuala Lumpur Police College, a key training institution for senior officers.
Both Taufik and Che Ghazali will be promoted to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) with their new appointments.
They are among 23 senior police officers named in the latest leadership reshuffle announced by the PDRM Secretariat.
The transfers will take effect on Aug 18 as confirmed by PDRM secretary SAC Datuk Kamaruzaman Abdullah.
Filling Che Ghazali’s shoes in Sarawak will be ACP Lim Bak Phai, the current deputy chief of the Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for Investigation and Legal Affairs.
Lim will be promoted to Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SAC) in his new role.
