KUCHING: The Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations (SFCA) hopes Sarawak will continue its strong momentum of growth and progress under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
SFCA president Datuk Richard Wee stated that Abang Johari’s vision had brought unity and purpose to the state’s development, especially in ensuring the benefits are felt by all Sarawakians.
“It is our wish and hope we continue the momentum of our achievements of Sarawak under the leadership of our Premier.
“The federation also hope that the visions and goals of Abang Johari will continue to be the common objectives shared by all Anak Sarawak and with the increased revenue that Sarawak gets, it can be cascaded down to everyone so that all can feel the benefits of the achievements thus far.
“The free education for Anak Sarawak in 2026 will be one of the significant direct benefits which will have the positive impact,” he told Sarawak Tribune.
Wee also noted the importance of effective delivery of people-oriented policies to ensure no one is left behind.
“A more efficient machinery in rolling out all these positive policies must be implemented to assist the people to ensure smooth and easier process to gain access to all the policies which benefit the people of Sarawak.”
Turning attention to ongoing federal-state negotiations, particularly involving Sarawak’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), Wee urged for faster resolution and concrete timelines.
“The matters which are still undergoing current negotiations and further discussions need to be resolved in a more impactful timeline with clear milestones.
“The current pace and progress are possible tactics deployed by parties in Putrajaya to slow walk the process.”
He called on Sarawakians to unite in supporting the state government’s push to reclaim these long-standing rights.
“We hope all Sarawakians will stand united to provide our government the support to reinforce the determination of Abang Johari to regain all our rights which are rightfully ours as enshrined in the MA63 agreement.”
