MIRI: Over seven thousand people turned up in the city this morning (July 22) to take part in the ‘Unity Walk’, one of the signature events held in conjunction with Sarawak Day 2025.
Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar flagged off the 2.7-kilometre parade from Miri Stadium, joined by his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi and other dignitaries.
Many had begun gathering at the stadium as early as 6 am.
Following the parade, the Governor visited the nearby Entrepreneur Carnival and agency exhibition booths set up around the stadium.
He also received souvenirs from five community and village leaders from the Miri division.
The Unity Walk is among seven key programmes organised this year to commemorate Sarawak Day.
The official Sarawak Day gathering tonight will mark the culmination of the celebrations, with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and other state leaders expected to attend.
