PADAWAN: The 36th Annual Sports Day of SRK Pangkalan Ampat was held today in a vibrant and spirited atmosphere, reflecting the school’s strong commitment to developing well-rounded students in line with the National Education Philosophy.
The event, a hallmark in the school’s calendar, aims to cultivate physical, emotional, and intellectual balance among students through healthy competition and values-based participation.
Guest of honour, local entrepreneur and community leader Andrew Victor Nub William Tanyuh, officiated the opening ceremony and delivered a rousing address on the importance of parental involvement in education.
“The responsibility of educating our children begins at home. Teachers are not the only ones who bear this duty. Parents must consistently monitor their children’s development and activities, both in and outside of school,” he said in his speech.
Earlier, headmaster Warren Bunsu Martin Gana noted that sports play a pivotal role in character-building and personal development.
He stressed that sports are not merely about competing on the field but are instrumental in nurturing values such as discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy competitiveness key components in producing quality future leaders.
He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the school staff, support personnel, and the wider community for their unwavering support in making the event a success.
Andrew further noted that the younger generation should be given space to lead and should be encouraged in every area they pursue, including sports.
In the overall results, the Yellow House emerged as the champion, followed by Blue House as first runner-up, and the Red House in third place.
