KUCHING: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has officially launched its inaugural Mayor Pickleball Championship 2025 at Picklepro Kuching, marking a new chapter in community sports and wellness initiatives.
The event, officiated by MBKS Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng, drew participants from various age groups, and aimed to promote a healthier, more active lifestyle while strengthening community bonds.
“Pickleball, a fast-growing sport that blends elements of badminton, tennis, and ping pong, is gaining traction globally for its accessibility to all age groups.

“We hope the championship will ignite a new sporting culture in the city and inspire residents to embrace a more active lifestyle,” MBKS said in a statement today.
The initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, reflecting MBKS commitment to innovative approaches that promote physical and mental wellness while aligning with its vision of Kuching as a Healthy City where inclusive and accessible recreational sports thrive.
The launch event acknowledged the efforts of the organising committee, volunteers, the Kuching Pickleball Association, and corporate partners for their contributions in making the event a success.
MBKS intends to develop the Mayor Pickleball Championship into one of Kuching’s premier annual sporting events, encouraging more residents to stay active, connected, and involved.
