IS it true that it just offers angry looking rock formations with jagged edges?
No, walk in the Paku Rock Maze Garden, and you will find the place a perfect blend of challenge and tranquility.
My first visit to the Paku Rock Maze Garden was in September 2022, when it was officially opened. I went there to cover the launching.
By then I did not have the opportunity to really explore the place; I did not really have the chance to fully experience or investigate it due to time constraints.
However, I still remember when I was there, only some portions of the rock formations, mainly around the entrance area until the observation deck were cleared.
Farther inside, the areas were still obscured by overgrown shrubs covering other rock formations available in the garden.
From what I saw in my recent visit, efforts to improve the garden’s layout and create areas featuring many more rock formations and shapes had been carried out.
The removal of the shrubs had made those rock formations visible and accessible, allowing for further site seeing and tour at the garden.
With the addition of the several new rock figures of different shapes, exploring the Paku Rock Maze now offers not only a unique blend of adventure, natural beauty, but a touch of mystery.
The visibility of more maze-like formations of the rocks there, which had shaped over time, truly creates an engaging environment for exploration and discovery.
To explore the area is easy as the crisscrossing paths were created through the rocks, creating a natural maze to provide a sense of adventure and challenge as you navigate through it.
As we walked through those paths, I noticed several arrow signs indicating the various different rock formations.
Heading towards those formations along a well maintained gravel path to the observation deck area, I arrived at a rock formation that resembles a dolphin.
Just a few metres away from the dolphin-like rock figure, is a rock formation that resembles a five-finger mountain.
A five-finger mountain is a mountain range or peak whose shape resembles five fingers of a hand. The most well-known example is Wuzhi Mountain in Hainan Province, China.
As I looked around in front of me, I saw other rock formations that resemble a dog, T-Rex and snails.
I then headed to the observation deck, climbed up the stairs to get a better view of the surrounding areas.
I was amazed by what I saw from the top of the observation deck.
The whole rock garden provides a serene atmosphere with shaded areas, that I feel it is a great place for relaxation and escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
From the observation deck, I could clearly see it is surrounded by lush greenery, offering a peaceful atmosphere, especially to nature lovers.
Before I said goodbye to the beautiful nature display there, I saw another sign pointing to the golden cudgel.
Between the two rows of rock formation, there is a big tree, which might have fallen, resting on one of the rock maze. The tree trunk resembles a big cudgel.
All the animal and object like rock formations that I saw added a fun element to my exploration while I took in the tranquility of the surrounding forest in Paku Rock Maze Garden.
The unique rock formations, the lush surroundings and friendly trails also offer excellent opportunities for taking memorable and visually appealing photos and videos.
At the same time, visitors can learn about the local ecosystem and the importance of environmental conservation while exploring and discovering some hidden nooks and interesting rock formations at their own pace.
The Paku Rock Maze Garden is a family-friendly destination. It is suitable for all ages and is a fun and engaging activity for families.
The area also has a history tied to the local culture and geology, adding another layer of interest to the visit.
To enter the rock maze garden, take a walk along the foot track beside the Shiwang Temple. Parking is available while entrance is free. However, donations for the maintenance of the garden and temple are welcome.
From my personal observation, the Paku Rock Maze truly offers a blend of adventure, tranquility, and opportunities both for exploration and photography.
While the maze-like paths, created by ancient, dynamic stones, provide a sense of wonder and discovery, the surrounding lush greenery and cool temperatures offer a peaceful escape and great cooling place.
Wander through its winding paths, and have a first-hand experience of the surrounding vibrant greenery.
Although it’s a maze, I dare to reiterate that it’s a peaceful retreat for those seeking both adventure and serenity.
According to the information available there, the Paku Rock Maze Garden is a labyrinthic lowland limestone pinnacles formed by a fluctuating water table.
