KUCHING: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is set to attend the official opening of X-FAB Sarawak Sdn Bhd’s 40K FAB Expansion at the company’s plant in Sama Jaya Free Industrial Zone on Sept 12.
X-FAB Sarawak’s Thilip Endira conveyed this to Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan during a courtesy call today.
He said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and other distinguished guests are also expected to attend the event.
During the visit, Thilip said the call also aimed to seek UKAS’ advice and input to promote and ensure the smooth execution of the programme.
Awang Putrayusrie assured that UKAS is ready to assist in providing extensive coverage of the event.
Previous reports stated that the 40K FAB Expansion at Samajaya High Technology Park will increase X-FAB Sarawak’s monthly wafer production capacity from 30,000 to 40,000 units by 2025.
The expansion is part of the company’s ongoing plan to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities in Kuching.
X-FAB Sarawak is a multinational company based in Kuching providing semiconductor wafer manufacturing services.
The company employs about 1,500 people, 90 per cent of whom are Sarawakians. Its products are mainly used in the global automotive industry.
