BINTULU: Resurfacing and road repair works on several heavily damaged routes in the Kemena Industrial Estate (KIE) have commenced, following continuous efforts by Tanjong Batu Assemblyman, Johnny Pang Leong Ming.

According to him, the physical condition of the roads in the industrial area had long been a source of concern for users.

He stated that road surfaces riddled with potholes and poorly functioning drainage systems have caused the area to flood easily during rain, while on hot days the thick dusty road impairs comfort and safety for road users.

“This issue was raised by residents and business premise owners who appealed for immediate action. After several follow-ups with the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA), these improvement works are finally being carried out,” he said in a statement today (Aug 7).

The project includes resurfacing the main road spanning 1.8 kilometers, repairing approximately 500 meters of branch roads, and constructing a new drainage system to improve wastewater flow. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of August.

He further emphasised that the implementation of this project will not only enhance road safety but also contribute to a more orderly, comfortable, and secure environment for the community and the industrial sector in the area.

“I urge all road users to always adhere to safety signage and slow down when passing through construction zones for everyone’s safety,” he added.
