KUCHING: Several roads in the city will be closed or diverted starting this morning (Aug 9) until tomorrow (Sunday Aug 10) to make way for the Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) Isthmus Run 2025.
The marathon, which will see participation from both local and international runners, begins tomorrow (Sunday Aug 10).
This year marks Sarawak Energy’s 10th edition of the Isthmus Run, which includes the 42km full marathon, 21km half marathon, 10km, and 5km categories.
Acting Kuching District Police chief Supt Merbin Lisa said traffic from the Sarawak Energy building/Isthmus traffic lights to the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) roundabout will be closed from 8 am today (Saturday Aug 9) until 10 am the following day.
Meanwhile, full closures will be in place from 12.01 am to 8 am tomorrow (Sunday Aug 10) for major roads including Jalan Isthmus, Jalan Pelabuhan, Jalan Kwong Lee Bank, Jalan Pending, Jalan Padungan, Lebuh Wayang, Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg, Jalan Taman Budaya, Jalan Satok, and Jalan Tun Abdul Rahman Yaakub.
“This includes Jalan Samariang, Jalan Stadium, Jalan Bako, Jalan Hasyim Jaafar, Jalan Merdeka, Jalan Kulas, Jalan Muhibbah, Jalan Dagok, Jalan Patinggan, Jalan Tanjung, Jalan Datuk Ajibah Abol, Jalan Haji Mataim, Jalan Muda Hasyim, Jalan Haji Taha, Jalan Market, Jalan Gambier, Jalan Abell, Jalan Datuk Abang Abdul Rahim, Jalan Datuk Merican Salleh and Jalan Merbau,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Merbin urged motorists to plan their journeys and use alternative routes to reduce congestion.
“Please do not park along road shoulders in the affected areas,” he warned.
